30th October

Not very good news for my two boys from their visit to the vet.

Khan has a benign gland tumour in his eye, not serious in itself but it is growing and becoming intrusive so it will need to be removed the op costing over £200 which we just cannot afford at the moment. He has some ointment to keep the eye lubricated in the meantime.
Lexus has a painful and 'crunching' hip. Jane let out a gasp when she heard it as she manipulated him! It is probably arthritis due to his age and he has anti inflammatorys to see if it helps but he could be on them for the rest of his life! He can have normal exercise to keep up his muscle tone but playing with his buddy Khan will be a thing of the past.
Then there was their behaviour at the vets.
Khan was stressy and silly and had to leave by the back door.
Lexus made goat noises in the waiting room, much to the consternation of the lady with the King Charles Spaniel who was paying her bill. Once in the consulting room he tried to get into the bins under the examination table when we were trying to get him to walk. Then despite his dodgy  hip he jumped up all google eyed at Jane when she got out the treats.
 He was shameful.
I suppose as Staffordshire Bull Terriers are 95% spirit he will probably manage very well but I am feeling rather depressed tonight.
Jane is usually very good to me but with the ointment and anti inflammatorys the whole visit was not cheap.

On a brighter note Val, Stuart and all five dogs are having a wonderful time. It is doggy heaven. Here is Oscar enjoying the view from the bedroom window.
Here they are on a walk, no-one else in sight.

  1. But here's some encouraging news - Britain's first Staffy POLICE DOG is now patrolling the streets of Bristol. Kos was given to the Avon and Somerset constabulary by an RSPCA rescue and has been trained to detect drugs, currency ?? and firearms H Kos' first arrest came after a found heroin in a car in Bristol. Kos is said to be the "gentlest of dogs"
