8th October

Jane the vet is back and excellent news for Chloe! It is just the treatment 'Doing it's stuff,' so to speak and she should start to look better in a week or so but will probably have a similar reaction with subsequent treatments but as we have experienced before with this product it will get rid of the mange after several treatments without any re-occurrence. Demodex Mange is due to the immune system and stress is a factor as Demodex mites are found on all dogs it is just that on dogs like Chloe the numbers have got out of hand. Breeds like SBT are more prone because of their short coats. It is more common in puppies and it could just be the stress of growing that causes it (Chloe has undergone a huge growth spurt recently.)

Chloe goes to her foster home with Abi tomorrow, so I am pleased to know her skin is ok and will improve soon. I see Abi regularly so will continue to keep an eye.

Paul O'Grady For The love of Dogs was good viewing again tonight, highlighting the stress that dogs, especially Staffords, experience in kennels.
As you know we have used kennels for our rescue dogs in the past but because the dogs are now staying so long they would go mad in kennels as well as it costing the rescue a fortune. For the dogs with me we are somewhere between a kennels and a foster home as the rescue dogs are not fully integrated with our own dogs or within the home. Also, just because we are dealing with so many, they have to wait their turn resulting in some behaviour which just would not exist if they were in their own home. So please spare a thought especially for Boycie, Angel and Saffy who have all been with us far too long and so deserve a home of their own with  love and attention just for them.

Boycie particularly is a lovely boy, I cannot believe he is still waiting for his perfect home.
